Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 6, 2026

1. Introduction

ScanQRL ("we", "us", or "our") provides a service for creating short links and customizable QR codes. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use our website and services (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form) when you register.
  • Content you create: destination URLs, custom short codes, and QR code styling options (colors, shapes, uploaded logos) that you generate through the Service.
  • Click/visit analytics: every time one of your short links is opened, we log the date and time, IP address, referrer URL, browser, operating system, device type (mobile/desktop/tablet), browser language, and an approximate location (country/region/city derived from IP address). We also flag whether a visit came from a known bot, crawler, or link-preview service (e.g. search engine crawlers, or WhatsApp/Telegram/Facebook/LinkedIn/X link previews) so that bot traffic can be reported separately from real visitor clicks.
  • Account activity logs: we similarly log the date/time, IP address, and device/browser information whenever you register, log in, create or edit a short link/QR code, or download a QR code image, for security and analytics purposes.
  • Technical data: IP address, cookies, and similar identifiers used to keep you signed in and to secure your account.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate you when you sign in.
  • To generate, store, and redirect your short links and QR codes.
  • To provide click/scan analytics on your dashboard, including distinguishing real visitor clicks from bot/crawler traffic.
  • To log account and link activity (registration, login, link creation/editing, QR downloads) for security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.
  • To maintain the security and reliability of the Service, including detecting abuse.
  • To communicate with you about your account or important changes to the Service.

4. Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies (such as an authentication token) to keep you signed in. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers who help us operate the Service (such as hosting providers), or when required by law, to protect our rights, or to prevent fraud or abuse.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and QR code/link data for as long as your account is active. You may delete individual QR codes/links at any time from your dashboard. If you wish to delete your account entirely, please contact us.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details below.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
